HOUSTON — One of the first faces of COVID-19 awareness in the Hip-Hop community is now offering up affordable personal protective equipment to people who need it.
Rapper Slim Thug, along with business partners Adam Beason and Jimmy Choung, have teamed up to launch a line of PPE materials called #SlimHTX, which consists of stylish masks, disposable masks, face shields, hand sanitizer, and personalized N95 masks.
“I’m excited to launch my PPE products as this is a time where safety should be our priority, but we can also make it look like a boss,” Slim said.

“It’s very important for people to protect themselves and it’s very important for people to be able to afford to protect themselves,” he said. “It’s (coronavirus) is real, it’s nothing you want to take for a joke, so it’s only right that we did something.”
After testing positive for COVID-19 in March, Slim, whose real name is Stayve Thomas, has made it his mission to provide Houston with the tools needed to fight during the pandemic. Since his recovery, he has worked to use his influence in order to help others stay safe. The rapper and businessman has even teamed up with Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner for his “Mask Up” campaign and has given away 1,000 hand sanitizers to METRO bus drivers and police officers.

Beason and Choung said it was a no-brainer to collaborate with Slim.
“He’s one of my favorite artists to work with, so it just makes sense. It was the best way for us to reach the majority of the Houston population,” Beason said.
Choung said the most rewarding thing throughout this process has been being able to help Houstonians buy quality PPE for cheaper prices.

“Right now, a lot of people can’t afford 1,000 masks to get a cheaper price, so we were talking one day and we were like, ‘Why not give everyone a chance to buy more quantity for the same price as the big quantity?’” Choung said.

All of the products are FDA certified and can be found at www.slimhtx.org. While all of the products are must-haves, the “Mask Up” box priced at $100 will provide you with everything needed in order to complete your everyday tasks while staying safe.
